Accomplishments
Finished his American championship with 4 Majors. Currently working on RAE title, Active Therapy dog.
Maxwell was originally sold as a companion puppy, but his potential was soon recognized and he began training for the conformation ring. When he started showing, he took the ring by fire. By the age of 1 yr, had a total of 14 points, including 3 Majors, and a win over “Kaiser” (6 mos after winning PCA). After finishing his American championship at 18 mos, he started competing in Obedience. He finished his CD quickly and started training in Agility, but as his Mom, Darlene Kelley, cannot run well, he really just plays and enjoys. However, he has done very well in Rally, and is now working on his RAE title, just going to local shows. While showing on and off, he was also certified as a Therapy dog, and is currently working at some of the local hospitals, they have now incorporated “Max” day in their schedules.
Max is a beautiful dog, tall and structurally correct. He has some of the blackest pigment I have ever seen on a white dog and has kept it with age. He was never bred, we found he was sterile, no known cause, and this was quite the blow to our breeding program. However, we value him more than his use, and he has continured to be an ambassador to the breed. He now has a niece living with him, and she has truly been his companion. It’s funny to call over to Darlene’s and hear them in the background playing. Max is truly what this breed is about, loyal, considerate, kind, obedient and willing to work. What more could you ask for.
